III. Special Presentation - Melissa Cole, Library Services, Capital Area District Library
     A. Tutoring available for students in K-12 - Mondays and Thursdays, 5:00-7:00pm; no charge; any subject
     B. Large collection of juvenile non-fiction
     C. Expanding foreign language materials (Korean and Chinese)
     D. Bibliographies available by grade
     E. Strive to create life-long library users
     F. Website is CADL.org

IV. Approval of Minutes - Motion to approve November minutes by June Hicks, seconded by Jason Gutting. Motion carried.

III. Approval of Minutes - Motion to approve October minutes by Jennifer Zambiasi, seconded by Tara Bogle. Motion carried.

IV. Additions to Agenda - First grade class representative (Mrs. Staudt’s class)

V. Principal’s Report - Tara Fry
A. Weekend Survival Kit program
     1. Food Bank no longer involved; Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs now administer program.
     2. First distribution will begin Friday, Nov 18.
B. Winter Concert - Tuesday, Dec 12.
C. Parent Council - Tuesday, Dec 12, at Cornell.
D. Thanks to PTO
     1. Great support for Building and Site Sinking Fund millage.
     2. Dinner provided for staff during parent-teacher conferences.

VI. President’s Report - Tammy Deppong
A. Skate Night at Edru - Nov 17
     1. Partnered with Bennett Woods - 24 students from Cornell; 54 students from Bennett Woods; 116 total including students and parents.
     2. Three more skate nights are scheduled throughout school year; next is Tuesday, Jan 31, 6:00-8:00pm.
B. Science Fair - to be held in February.
C. Movie Morning - scheduled for Saturday, Dec 3, “The Muppet Movie.”

A. Okemos Education Foundation (OEF) Banquet
1. Nov 17, at Lansing Country Club
2. Honoring Lori Greenberg
3. Tickets on sale now
B. Halloween celebration - Friday, Oct 28; parade at 1:45pm, classroom parties at 2:15pm.
C. Parent-teacher conferences
1. Nov 8, 14, and 15.
2. Strive for 100% parent attendance.
D. MiBLISI and RTF
1. Research has shown that reading and behavior are linked.
2. Select classrooms have been piloting a Positive Behavior System.
a) Positive behavior is acknowledged with “caught you being good” tickets.
b) Tickets can be redeemed for a small prize.
3. Pilot program is working very well; external prize is a good reminder of good behavior.
4. Program to be implemented school-wide after winter break.
5. Staff may put in request to PTO for funding to purchase prizes.

I. Principal’s Report - Tara Fry
A. MEAP testing - 3rd and 4th graders will be tested Oct 11-19; 1-2 hours per day.
B. Halloween celebration - Friday, Oct 28; afternoon parade followed by classroom parties.
C. Okemos Education Foundation (OEF) Banquet - Nov 17; Lori Greenberg will be honored for her work with RTI program; tickets on sale Monday, Oct 3.
D. School assembly - $1200 funding provided by PTO; considering 2 options
1. Basketball Jones - would request emphasis on school values
2. Inflatable planetarium - highly recommended from other schools
E. Picture Day - Wed Oct 5
F. State Count Day - Wed Oct 5
G. Custodian Appreciation Day - staff will decide on a date soon.
H. PLC time
1. Good Fit Groups have been developed.
2. This year 30 min of every morning to be spent on targeted interventions.
